My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tilly!!

Tilly is a very, very sweet girl who is learning some confidence now that she has been separated from her sister. She and her sister were raised together, but as we see often with littermate syndrome, she has developed some codependency and is learning confidence outside of her sister being with her. She’s also learning how to be a good house dog again because she has not been in the house for a few months. So she’s learning that she shouldn’t counter surf.

She is 13 months old.
Tilly looks like a Labrador mix, but her owners were also told that there is German Shepherd and Brittnay Spaniel in her. We can definitely see the Brittnay Spaniel, but we don’t see much of the German Shepherd! She is almost full grown and weighs 42 pounds. She should not get any taller, but she may gain some muscle mass in the next year or so. Right now she is a lean lady and we would like to keep her body condition where it is. She absolutely loves to run and play and to chase toys, but she should not be left alone with anything that she can chew up because she will shred toys!

She is house trained and crate trained and lets you know when she needs to go outside. She will submissive pee sometimes. She was raised with kids from three years old up and as well with them, but she can be a little rambunctious sometimes. She enjoys snuggling on the couch in the evenings and sleeping in her owner’s bed. She knows “sit” and “come” and is working on other commands.

Her biggest thing she’s working on is how to greet other dogs, especially when she’s not sure of what’s going on. She needs to learn to sit and be patient instead of jumping headfirst. She’s still just a baby herself and will need continuing training going forward.

More about this rescue

The Fayette County Humane Society (FCHS), staffed entirely by volunteers, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported entirely by individual and corporate donations. Because we do not have a shelter, all of the animals we rescue live in temporary foster homes until they are adopted. We believe that all companion pets have intrinsic value and should be treated with the reverence and care they deserve.
