My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Beanz arrived:
Beanz was brought in by a Good Samaritan on August 4, 2025.

Why Beanz is the one for you:
Whether he's running zoomies in the yard or showing off his big smile, he's sure to perk up your day like a good cup of coffee. ☕🐶 Beanz is good with kids and loves to zip around them in joyful circles. He's also great with other dogs and has paws-itively excellent social skills - always reading the room (and the tail wags!) before diving into play. He's friendly with strangers, super food-motivated, and totally chill at the vet (as long as someone brings the cheese, please 🧀). Beanz is crate-trained, knows "go to your cage," and takes direction like a champ. He's got that classic heeler spirit - smart, energetic, and happiest when he has something to do. Give him playtime, a puzzle toy, or a good walk, and he'll be one content cookie. 🍪 Sometimes he gets a bit "mouthy" when excited, but it's all in good fun - he's just trying to say, "Hey! You're my favorite person ever!" With his loose wiggly body, wagging tail, and big heart, Beanz is pure joy in dog form. So if you're ready for a playful companion who's full of love, laughter, and bean-tastic energy, Beanz is the one for you! When visiting Beanz, please bring a leash and collar - he's ready to espresso himself! 💙

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
