My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a Good Samaritan on November 5th, 2025.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and fixed. They are now ready for their new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Say hi to Haze! Haze is a sweet, active girl who needs a calm, patient home to help her feel safe and understood. New environments and unfamiliar people can be overwhelming for her, but with slow introductions, soft voices, and plenty of tasty treats, she warms up and shows her affectionate side. Once comfortable, Haze walks nicely on lease and enjoys pets. She's more of a "quiet home" kind of dog and would do best in a low-traffic setting with older children who can respect her space. Haze has met other dogs but prefers to keep interactions low-key, making her a better fit for a home without dog parks or off-leash social scenes. With structure, understanding, and gentle guidance, this lovely girl is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion for adopters who appreciate a sensitive soul with tons of potential. If you are looking for an active pup who will keep you on your toes, stop by our San Diego Campus and ask about Haze today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
