Hi there! I'm considered a "barn cat" or "working cat"! My friends at HHHS believe I would do best in an outdoor environment - I'd make an excellent mouser and I really prefer my space. I am not your typical house cat and you would be wise to not try and force me inside a home. I'm not really here to be your friend, I'm really more here to help keep rodents and other cats away from your property! The HHHS Barn Cat program helps cats like me get out of the shelter and into environments where I am able to free-roam. I don't need to be placed in the country, I can go wherever you can give me some kind of shelter, food, and water. I have been fixed so no kittens will come from me being outside, I've received vaccines so I will be healthy in my new adventurous life, and I have been ear-tipped so I don't need to come back into the shelter ever again! HHHS has been a permanent part of the Topeka community since its founding May 4, 1938. The organization is incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business for the purpose of sheltering companion animals in need of care, advocating for anti-cruelty protection of animals and promoting humane education and animal welfare issues. HHHS fosters the adoption of companion animals into responsible homes and reunites lost animals with their owners; promotes sterilization of animals to help reduce overpopulation; provides a facility accessible to the general public; serves the community with educational programs addressing animal welfare issues; and maintains a fiscally responsible organization.
