My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Now Fostered in Portand Or!

Edmund Duke might look like a noble beast of the wild with his striking brindle coat and piercing bicolored eyes, but don’t be fooled! This gentle giant is really just a big softy at heart. His coat gives off "regal tiger" vibes, while his eyes reflect a calm, arctic stillness, but his soul is all warm and easygoing.

Edmund Dukes foster has gotten a DNA test and he is quite the mix including german sherpard boxer and even chihuahua! We estimate him to be around 3 years old and weighs approximately 70 pounds. He’s big, but he’s gentle! Due to him being a rescue, age is our best guess and cannot be guaranteed.

He lives peacefully with his 20-pound Jack Russell foster brother, and together they’ve mastered the art of lounging. Whether it's a lazy afternoon nap or a slow stroll around the yard, Edmund is perfectly content with a mellow lifestyle. During his visit to the rescue, we introduced him to a variety of dogs. From bouncy puppies to confident males, he remained steady, respectful, and calm. He’s not one to stir the pot; he prefers to sniff politely and move on with his day. Edmund would do wonderfully in a home with a low to medium energy dog who’s happy to enjoy the simple pleasures; sunbathing, snacking, and stretching out on the living room floor. He’s not one for the zoomies or tug-of-war marathons, but if you’ve got a comfy couch and a quiet routine, you’ll have his whole heart.

His one true weakness? Cheese! Bust out a slice and watch this guy go from chill to laser-focused. He’s very treat-motivated and eager to please when you’ve got something tasty to offer! This will be great for training him in the future!

Edmund met our housecat Biggie and immediately told us loud and clear, that felines are not his cup of tea. He’s best suited for a cat-free home. On the flip side, he met our five-year-old friend Ellie and was as gentle as can be, patiently standing still while she buzzed with excitement around him. Because of his sweet and tolerant nature, we believe he would do beautifully in a home with dog-savvy kids who want a calm, cuddly companion over a rough-and-tumble playmate.

Though his energy is low, Edmund is a big boy, so he’d love a home with a little space to stretch out. Still, his easygoing demeanor makes him apartment-appropriate for the right adopter. He’s not going to be your jogging buddy, but he’ll be your loyal lounge partner, your late-night snack companion, and your quiet, steady shadow.

If your idea of a best friend is someone calm, affectionate, and regal in their own right, Edmund Duke is ready to be your boy!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
