My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zoey, a petite 10-year-old, 10-pound snow-white Shih Tzu with a gentle spirit and a heart full of sweetness. Zoey joined CAWS through a lifesaving Texas transport, and from the moment she arrived, she’s been nothing short of enchanting.

Quiet as a little mouse and never one to bark, Zoey prefers calm, cozy moments curled up on the lap of her favorite human. She sleeps soundly with her people but is also content spending short periods in a crate. Because of her tiny size and delicate nature, Zoey needs a peaceful home—no rowdy households or young children.

Zoey is house- and crate-trained and gets along beautifully with every dog in her foster home—big, small, male, or female. Given her age and size, Zoey would thrive in a home with a yard and people who work from home, can bring her along to work, or are retired. She doesn’t want to spend much time alone at this stage of her life—and she certainly doesn’t deserve to.

Zoey is a magnificent little lady who radiates sweetness, serenity, and gratitude. She has so much love left to give and, in the right home, could enjoy many more happy years ahead. If you can offer Zoey the safe, quiet, and loving forever home she deserves, please submit an application for a meet and greet.

This precious girl will capture your heart the moment you meet her.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
