My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sally!

A resilient and radiant nine-year-old Labrador Retriever mix currently in sunny San Diego, CA, whose essence is a gentle mix of warmth, wisdom, and wagging tails wrapped in a sleek black coat.

Sally may be a tripod, but don’t let that fool you, this radiant gal embraces every day with a joyful spirit and a glass-half-full mentality! After arriving from Tijuana in May 2024 and overcoming a tough start, including a leg amputation and the loss of her front teeth (which only adds to her quirky grin!), Sally has fully settled into the comforts of foster life. Her favorite pastimes? Lounging in sunbeams, gazing out the door like the neighborhood’s honorary greeter, and accompanying her human on leisurely walks.

She’s mastered the art of being the perfect companion. Calm, affectionate, and always ready to quietly observe life from your side. Sally’s gentle nature shines brightest around kids, including toddlers, and she’ll happily follow you from room to room just to be near. She recently found her voice (only for delivery drivers!), but she’s all about mellow vibes, making her perfect for a chill home with a moderate pace.

Sally is house-trained, walks wonderfully on leash, and confidently manages stairs. She eats soft or soaked food (those adorable front teeth are gone, but her back ones do just fine), takes a daily supplement like it’s a treat, and receives Cytopoint injections to keep her skin happy, though she’s only needed one since May thanks to her new diet. She’s also crate-trained, though she’s just as content snoozing solo when her human steps out. Big groups or hyper dogs aren’t really her scene, but she coexists peacefully with calmer canine companions and prefers to steer clear of cats.

Whether you're a retired couple, a mellow family, or a solo caregiver looking for a loyal, low-key buddy, Sally is ready to bring her unique brand of love into your life! With her tender heart, silly smile, and soulful eyes, she’s not just looking for a place to stay, she’s looking for someone to adore.

Could you be the loving guardian Sally’s been waiting for?

If you’re interested in providing Sally with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting her! Please note that Sally is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with her foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Additional adoption info

Our ultimate goal is to unite as many animals with loving pet parents as possible, so we strive to make it easy to adopt a dog or cat you have fallen in love with. All we ask is that you fill out an adoption application so that we have all the information we need to determine that you'll be able to provide a safe and compassionate home to one of our rescued pets. Once approved, all you need to do is sign our adoption agreement form and provide an adoption donation so that we can continue to save more animals every day and unite them with families just like yours.
