My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Sven
Age: 3 years
Weight: 45 lbs

Meet Sven, a curious, energetic, super sweet soul who is looking for his forever family. He was rescued from Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico by our team, so he had a rough start to life -- but you would never know that due to his warm heart and spunky, friendly disposition. Our staff reports he is extremely smart, active, playful, and eager to please! He also has some of the prettiest eyes (blue AND brown!) we've seen. While he is not a fan of cats, he is very dog friendly - as long as the other dog is up for some friendly play/roughhousing!

Sven flies from our Sanctuary to New Jersey on December 28th. Could you be the one to pick him up at the airport that day and show him all the love he deserves?

About The Sato Project:
The Sato Project has been working hard since 2011 to rescue and rehabilitate the stray dogs of Puerto Rico, known locally as “satos.” To date, we’ve saved over 8,000 dogs and are committed to stopping the overpopulation crisis with spay/neuter and vaccination programs. Your adoption helps us continue this vital work.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 500,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. With no access to food, fresh water, or veterinary care, many of these dogs are living daily lives of severe suffering. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. These shelters have a combined euthanasia rate of over 94%. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, we are their only hope.

More about this rescue

In order to meet our adoptable dogs you need to first complete our Adoption Application which can be found here: http://www.thesatoproject.org/applicationform. We will then get in touch to process your application and set up a virtual meet and greet with our dogs in Puerto Rico. We will then let you know when your Sato will be making their flight to the mainland!

Our adoption fee is $650. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated and microchipped.
