My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello humans. Every now and again, a very special dog comes along, who is so lovely and wonderful you would think heaven sent us an angel. Well, my name is Maggie, and this is exactly how my foster mom describes me!

I am a very sweet and pretty Blue Heeler mix, about 2 years old, weigh 49 lbs, and I was found just outside San Antonio, Texas, sitting on a highway access road bleeding from my nose and mouth. When 2 ladies tried to catch me, I jumped over a fence and into a yard with a very mean dog, but that didn't stop those brave ladies who followed me over and rescued me just as I was being attacked. It all happened so fast, and as I started going into shock, I was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic, where I spent 2 days recovering. It turns out I had been hit on the right side of my face. Whether by human or by car, I was hit very hard. My teeth were fractured, I had a hole in my cheek, a couple of puncture wounds from the dog attack, and, unrelated to this injury, I have a bullet in my lung. Fast forward a few weeks, and I am now healthy, happy, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and have just had a dental to fix up my teeth, so I am ready to find a forever home!

First and foremost, I am sweet as can be. Totally beautiful inside and out. And as though I couldn't be sweet enough, I have a heart-shaped patch on the right side of my body. I am kind, gentle, respectful, loving, and I hold no grudges despite all the trauma I have been through. I am friendly with all living creatures, including children, strangers, dogs, and kitty-cats. I am a devoted girl who aims to please her family and loves little kisses on her forehead. I am well-behaved, housebroken, and have never barked. I’m playful, love dog toys, walk well on a leash, and enjoy a car ride. Inquire about me today!

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
