Hi there, I’m a handsome, young Australian Shepherd mix pup named Canelo, which means cinnamon in Spanish and is often used as a nickname for someone with reddish hair. I am about 7 months old, weigh 29 lbs, and I have beautiful blue eyes! My life didn't start easily as a puppy growing up on a ranch in San Antonio, Texas. I was completely neglected, and when the owner threatened to kill me, a kindly neighbor offered to take me in, and she became my foster mom. I am now vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, happy, and healthy, and ready for adoption!
First and foremost, I’m a sweetheart of a puppy with gobs of energy, and I love to play, but what truly defines me is my incredibly loving and cuddly nature. I am friendly to all and will curl up anywhere with anyone- on your lap, beside you on the couch, at your feet, or snuggled next to another dog. That’s just my style. I love playtime and squeaky toys, and my foster mom says I am a perfect mix of playful and affectionate, with goofy antics and some mischief mixed in to remind everyone I’m still a puppy. I’m like a vacuum with all treats and food, and I have a keen ability to search out every stick in the vicinity. I guess I like sticks, LOL! I also like kisses- giving and receiving! I will follow you everywhere, and may launch a search party if I can't see you, but I’m working on it with positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency. I am fully housebroken, love going for walks, don't mind a ride in the car, and I don't guard my food or toys. I simply have a wonderful personality and am ready to find my future. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
