My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🤎 Meet Lioness (aka Linus) – The Soft, Shy Explorer Looking for a Safe Place to Land

Lioness came into rescue with her buddy Kitty, and just like her friend, she starts off shy but warms up quickly. Once she trusts you, she becomes an excellent snuggler who loves being close to her person.

Lioness isn’t much of a toy girl, but she does enjoy wrestling and playing with Kitty. The two of them are hilarious together. She’s also not a big fan of the kennel — she’ll eventually settle, but if Kitty protests, Lioness joins right in.

She’ll alert bark when visitors arrive or when other dogs are vocal. With proper introductions, she does well with other dogs and likes having a buddy around. Leash walking is still new to her; she tends to pull back and will need patient guidance and confidence-building.

She’s also an adventurer at heart. Lioness loves wandering and exploring off the beaten (or snowy!) path, which means she has very poor recall. A secure fenced yard is a must for her — it’s likely why she and Kitty ended up as strays.

Potty training is going pretty well, though she still has accidents. She’s trying hard and just needs continued consistency. Her experience with kids, cats, and men is unknown at this time.

Lioness is a gentle, curious girl who just wants someone kind, patient, and steady to help her feel safe and blossom.

More about this rescue

Camp Companion is a 501c3 organization established in 2003.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.

Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
