My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Paris is currently in foster care, if you`re interested in meeting her, please fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website https://everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet and we will be in touch to schedule an appointment.

Paris is a 4.5-year-old shepherd mix with a heart as big as her beautiful ears. In her foster home, she has blossomed into a happy and playful companion who also knows how to unwind and enjoy the quiet moments. She loves sprinting around the yard chasing balls and going on long, steady walks — she’s great at both and would thrive with a family who enjoys an active lifestyle.

Inside the home, Paris is learning all the right things. Her mouthing has decreased significantly as she’s discovered that calm behavior brings affection. When she gets a little too excited, a simple leash loop helps her settle quickly — a trick that has become her “reset button.” She’s also becoming quite the couch-lounger, happily snuggling up until she gets a bit warm and hops off to cool down.

Paris is wonderfully polite with people. She isn’t overly excitable when meeting new faces and naturally gives respectful space. She recently spent time with young children (ages 3 and 6) and handled their noise and energy with grace. Her foster describes her as gentle and steady around kids, making her a great match for families who appreciate a dog with balanced energy.

When it comes to other animals, Paris is still figuring things out. She did well with two calm cats but had a tense moment with a more assertive one. With time, structure, and consistency, she may learn to coexist peacefully — but for now, she’s best suited to a cat-free home.

Paris is sensitive to fireworks and prefers a safe, cozy space during loud booms. On New Year’s Eve, she chose to relax in her crate with blankets until the noise passed, showing that she knows how to self-soothe when given the right environment.

One delightful surprise: Paris is incredibly easy to handle. Her foster slipped a muzzle on her for the first time with nothing more than peanut butter and patience — no fuss at all. This makes her a great fit for adopters who value a dog that’s cooperative and easy to manage.

Paris is the full package: energetic yet calm, playful yet polite, affectionate yet independent. She’ll thrive with a family who can keep up with her zest for life while also honoring her need for peaceful downtime.

Adoptions by Appointment
We've got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt! The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. In most cases, animals are eligible to go home right away, so be prepared for your new animal to leave with you.

- Potential adopters complete an online adoption questionnaire at https://www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet .

- If approved, adopters can then interact with the animal they wish to adopt. It is best for all members of the household to meet the animal prior to going home. Note: Shelter staff reserve the right to deny any adoption if we feel it is not in the best interest of the animal.

- Renters bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption.

- Adopters must be 18 years or older, and have valid drivers license or photo identification.

- Pet licenses are required for dogs and cats in the City of Everett and unincorporated Snohomish County.

- The adoption fee must be paid at the time of adoption. We accept Visa, Mastercard or cash. We are unable to accept checks for payment of fees or services.

The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. To reduce the animals' overall stress levels, we have decided to limit animal viewing to those people with appointments for specific animals.
