Hi! I’m Charmander 🔥

I’m a fiery little pup with a heart full of energy and curiosity! I’m one of 11 siblings, and growing up in such a big, busy litter has taught me how to play, share, and make friends really quickly. We all had a rough start, but now I’m healthy, happy, and ready to find my forever family.

Like my Pokémon name, I’m spunky, playful, and full of spark. I love chasing toys, exploring new spaces, and curling up for warm cuddles when I’m ready to recharge my fire. I’m still learning all the puppy basics — walks, manners, and what humans mean by “gentle” — but I try my best and love it when people cheer me on.

I get along wonderfully with other pups and people, and I’m ready to light up a family’s life with my loyalty, love, and energy.

1.
Submit Application

If you see an animal you would like to meet, complete our online application. You will receive an email with the next steps.

2.
Meet the Pet

Visit the facility where the animal is located. If in foster care, the foster will set up a time to meet with you.

3.
Sign Adoption Contract

One of our adoption counselors will review the animal's medical history and walk you through the paperwork.

4.
Pay Fee

Our adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once the adoption process is complete, you can bring your furry friend home!

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.

Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
