From the moment you meet Rusty, you can’t help but fall in love. He’s a lovable, silly boy with the perfect mix of playfulness, affection, and charm. His goofy personality shines right away, and he has a special way of making every person feel like his new best friend.
When I first met Rusty, he walked right up with the happiest tail wag and leaned in for pets.He loves to play and loves attention.Rusty also loves flopping over for belly rubs and is totally fine with being picked up or even held like a baby. He really is such an easygoing, lovable dog under all that fun energy.

Rusty is an Australian Cattle Dog and Australian Kelpie mix ( no promises), about a year old, medium-sized but don’t let that fool you he is super tiny and petite, and full of life. He’s energetic in the best way, always ready for adventure, playtime, or a car ride (which he loves!). He’s the type of dog who will make you laugh every day and then curl up next to you once he’s had his fun.
He does fantastic with other dogs and plays beautifully with dogs of all sizes and personalities. Rusty would thrive in a home with a dog friend who can match his energy, but he could also be an only dog as long as his family is active and gives him plenty of stimulation. He has also done well with cats, though it’s best for cats to have escape spots when he gets excited—he never means harm, he’s just young and full of enthusiasm.
We haven’t officially tested him with kids yet, but based on his gentle, friendly nature, we believe he would do well with respectful children who understand boundaries.
Rusty would do amazing in a home with a yard and an active person or family. He’s the perfect buddy for walks, playtime, and fun outings. His joyful personality and loving heart would make him an incredible addition to almost any home.

At our 2 acre Texas based property, we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group training and socialization play groups helping them stay confident, well rounded, and adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth and we enjoy seeing their progress!
We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Veterinarians consistently praise our medical standards. From routine care to advanced treatments, each dog receives personalized attention. Hard costs for a healthy dog range from $804-$920; heartworm-positive dogs or those needing specialized care can exceed $2,000+. Adoption fees help cover a portion of these expenses, but without government funding, we rely on fundraising to bridge the gap—ranging from $100–$1,000+ per dog.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
