My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner.

At SDHS:
This stunning longhair beauty is looking for a new beginning. She's ready to bond with someone who will give her all the love she deserves.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet our furry friend Headcap! She has lived with other cats before and would likely be comfortable sharing her home with another friendly feline. Headcap is up to date on her rabies vaccine and will be due for her next FVRCP in December 2025, so she's well on track with her preventive care. If you're hoping for a graceful, affectionate companion to brighten your home, this lovely girl could be the perfect fit. Come meet her - she just might steal your heart. Don't forget a nice sturdy carrier for the ride home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
