Meet Sammie Your Loyal, Gentle Shadow Sammie is an 8-year-old, tall, elegant gray Weimaraner with a heart as soft as her cuddles. This sweet girl thrives on being close to her personwhether thats curling into a perfect little ball beside you in bed or snuggling up on the couch. Wherever you are, shell happily be your shadow. Sammie walks nicely on a leash and has an easy-going temperament. She doesnt bark much, and when she does alert you to someone at the door, she settles quickly once reassured. Shes fully housebroken and has done great being left alone for a full workday. While Sammie isnt big on toys, she loves her special blanket and nurses on it for comfort. She knows sit and lay down and, being a smart girl, will learn more commands with patience and positive reinforcement. Her history suggests she may have lived in a competitive environment with other dogs, so shell do best as the only dog in the home where she can finally relax and feel secure. She does enjoy helping herself to tasty things within reach, so a counter-clear home is ideal. Sammie gets along wonderfully with people, and though she hasnt been around children in her current home, her gentle nature suggests she may do well with respectful kids. Sammie is up to date on all vaccinations, including her rabies shot in November. This sweet, affectionate Weimaraner is ready to be someones devoted companion. If youre looking for a loving, loyal, couch-cuddling best friend, Sammie just might be your girl.

More about this rescue
Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit group whose primary mission is to help with the rescue & placement of Weims in the Great Lakes region; including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Ontario.
Dogs that enter our rescue are placed into our foster care network which provides a stable, loving family environment. Each dog's medical & emotional needs are provided for as they wait for their new "forever" home. We believe that every dog deserves a chance to enjoy a good life. We adhere to a "no-kill" philosophy.
GLWR was created in an effort to support & provide for the rescue, recovery, care, rehabilitation & re-homing of Weims in need across the Great Lakes region. No one individual is GLWR...we came together to form a collective & collaborative organization with our sole purpose being to assist Weims in need. We work with the various networks of shelters and containment facilities in several states as well as accept owner relinquishments. We exist solely on the generous donations of those who love these majestic "gray ghosts" as much as we do & the fund raising efforts of our very talented and energetic group. All funds received are used to support the vet care & other essential expenses necessary in the daily care of the dogs.
We believe in doing everything possible to help a dog make the transition to their forever home. We are here for the Weims & the Weims alone...our reward lies not in the accolades of being "rescuers" but in the gratitude we see in the bright, loving eyes of one of our Weims as they move onto their forever home... dogs that were once sad, dejected, & without hope that now have a chance to experience the love and warmth of a family that will truly love and care for them.
