How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on May 22, 2025.
Why this pet is the one for you:
Sun is a playful spirit. After experiencing a traumatic evacuation early in her life, she has been building confidence through positive reinforcement and fear-free training. Sun has formed trusting relationships with familiar handlers and enjoys enrichment activities, shaping games, foraging, and settling calmly in her kennel or on a mat. She is a smart, curious girl who learns best when given time, choice, and reassurance.
Sun shows friendly interest in other dogs during calm, managed introductions along a fence line, but due to resource guarding observed in care, she will need to be the only dog in the home. She has no known history with cats or small animals and is best suited for a home with teens 14+ who can understand dog body language and follow adult guidance. Sun can be sensitive to handling and restraint and is still building comfort with walking equipment, so her future family should expect to go slowly and use humane, fear-free methods.
Sun will thrive in a patient, experienced home that uses positive reinforcement and allows her to move at her own pace. A secure, private yard with a 6-foot or higher fence is required so she can safely explore and decompress. She loves high-value treats like cream cheese, cheese, and hot dogs, and food-based enrichment helps her feel confident. With the right home, Sun will continue to grow into a loyal, delightful companion who is ready to feel safe and settled for good.
