My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Duke is a sweet and handsome 4 year old 50-pound Labradoodle with a heart full of love. He is currently working on gaining a few healthy pounds, and with a little TLC from his new family, he'll be feeling his best in no time. He is looking for a calm, supportive home environment to help him feel secure and loved.
Duke has a medium to high energy level, meaning he is ready for adventures and play!

Due to his past experiences, Duke can occasionally get a little anxious. While Duke might be a bit nervous when meeting new people, it doesn't take long for his loving personality to shine through! He warms up quickly and craves affection and attention.

Dog-Friendly: Duke loves to play and is a social butterfly when it comes to his canine companions!
‍‍‍ Kid-Friendly: He previously lived with children and got along great with them!
Cat-Cautious: He is a bit 'excited' about cats, so a home without feline friends, or a family committed to careful, slow introductions, would be best.

Duke is a smart boy who has some basics down:
✅ Housetrained
✅ Crate Trained
✅ Walks well on a leash

His Ideal Home
Duke needs a patient, loving family ready to welcome him into their hearts and help manage his anxiety with positive reinforcement. While he has great manners, he would benefit from some basic obedience training to boost his confidence and polish his skills. His energy level means he needs a family committed to daily exercise and mental stimulation!

His gorgeous doodle coat is highly desirable, but please know it requires regular grooming to keep him looking and feeling his handsome best!

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
