Meet Rylee -- 10-year-old Scottish Terrier and True Confident Companion
Rylee is a distinguished senior gentleman with a big personality packed into a small, sturdy body. At 10 years old, he is confident, outgoing, and ready to make himself right at home — no warming-up period required. There isn’t a shy bone in Rylee’s body, and he approaches life with quiet confidence and curiosity.
Rylee enjoys the simple pleasures: spending time outside, chewing on a good bone, and keeping watch over his surroundings. He’ll happily let you know when someone new enters the building — he takes his “neighborhood watch” duties seriously! When it’s time to relax, Rylee prefers the cool comfort of the bare floor and will happily entertain himself with a frisbee nearby.
His energy level is low to medium, making him an easygoing companion who enjoys activity but also knows how to settle. Rylee does well with children, though he can be a little jumpy at times — his small size makes him a great fit for families who can offer gentle interactions.
Rylee is a senior and will need some dental care, but he is otherwise in good health and ready to enjoy his golden years in a loving home. After losing his longtime owner earlier this year, Rylee is looking for a place where he can feel safe, loved, and settled — a home where he can continue being his confident, loyal self without missing a beat.
If you would like to meet Rylee, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $275, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.
**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
