My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🤎🌴🧡Meet Cinnamon, a “Sato dog” from Puerto Rico! A “Sato dog” refers to the mixed breed, stray dogs on the island. (Majority are small-medium size but some can be larger). Island dogs are smart, loyal, highly trainable, and thrive on routines and consistency. They have wonderful demeanors, make devoted companions, adjust well to their environments, and are a perfect mix of energetic and affectionate. There is no love like the love of an island dog.

Cinnamon was found wondering the streets in Trujillo Alto, PR. (We believe she had a prior home as she had a collar on). She was rescued on May 14th and is healthy, happy, and full of love. This girl has decompressed well, holds a gentle soul with an amazing disposition, and has an outgoing personality. She loves affection, does great around both men and women, and mingles well with various dogs. She knows basic commands like “sit” and is very food motivated. She is potty trained with occasional accidents, does well crated overnight, sleeps great, leash trained, and walks well with some excitement and no reactivity. Cinnamon has no food reactivity, resource guarding, or signs of separation anxiety. She has also been left loose with her previous foster’s dogs with no issues during the day. She has normal energy for her age, loves toys, playing fetch, and also content. She does amazing during car rides (crated so far). Cinnamon was nearby kittens before and had brief engagements with two other cats. She is curious, respectful, not forward, and no negative reaction. She should have no issues living comfortably with cats. She may chase if they run but has shown no aggression. Cinnamon has not yet had direct engagements with kids/younger children and we see no issues-with proper introduction/respect. She shares her foster home with 4 dogs and a cat. Her foster mom is a huge dog advocate and competes in agility, scent work, etc. She will continue to learn all the ropes, day/night time crate training, and be set up for success. This girl will make an amazing companion and we are excited to see her confidence continue to thrive. 😊 (Mom and Dad are unknown).

📍Ability to transport to other states/locations, if applicable.

More about this rescue

Paradise Rescue was established to address the pressing issue of stray animals in Puerto Rico, particularly in the northeast region. Recognizing that rescue efforts are more effective with a support network, we founded this organization to share our experiences and engage individuals interested in contributing through donations, fostering, or adoption. Over the years, we've accumulated an impressive portfolio of rescue success stories and assembled a dedicated team committed to improving the lives of our beloved "satos."
