My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mellie is a 5 year, 42 pound female American Eskimo Mix. She is a sweet, extremely calm girl who just loves to  be loved. She does get frightened with loud, unfamiliar noises, so a leash always is recommended for her. She gets along with all animals, including cats, children, men, etc. She is completely potty trained,- and will hold her bladder and poo for 11 hours plus with no accidents! She is literally perfect and is loving this snow and the cold! She and her friend Cooper play outside a lot in the snow!! She doesn't bark and doesn't chew. She is the total package for the perfect family.. which she totally deserves!!

She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300.00. If you would like more information about Mellie, please email us at projecthoperescue@gmail.com. To apply to adopt, visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
