My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Princess!

Are you searching for a good-natured best friend who specializes in snuggles, outdoor fun, and greeting you with Olympic-level excitement every single time you walk through the door? Say hello to Princess!

Princess is a stunning 10-year-old, 14-pound Poodle mix who radiates a perfect blend of happy, goofy, and endlessly affectionate. (Let's be honest, this girl has boundless energy and anyone who spends time with her doesn't believe she's actually 10!)

The Royal Treatment (What makes Princess special):

  • Elite Cuddler: She is a couch expert and sleeps like a rock (especially if she's snuggled right next to you!).

  • A Grooming Champ: She's superb for baths and grooming and will happily model any adorable outfit or accessory you choose—she's a total fashionista!

  • Manners: Princess is reliably housetrained and knows how to be an excellent houseguest.

  • People Person: She's friendly with people and loves to shower you with affection (sometimes jumping up for extra pets!). She's also curious and friendly with other dogs on the street.

Princess absolutely LOVES a good walk! She gets so excited that she might pull on the leash when you first step outside, but this quickly subsides and is a very trainable habit.

Princess has been an excellent houseguest in foster care and gets along well with people and other dogs she meets. She's looking for a family with older children, as her goofy, enthusiastic antics might be too much for little hands.

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Princess, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

STEP 1: Apply!
Download and complete an ADOPTION APPLICATION from www.waggytailrescue.org/adopt-a-waggytail

STEP 2: The Meet and Greet!
We strongly suggest the ALL members of the household come to the meet and greet. This is the time to determine whether a dog's personality is match for you, your family and your other animals, and if you have allergies. If everything goes well you may adopt the same day, or take a day or two to decide, but we cannot indefinitely hold dogs in foster care for you.

STEP 3: Contract and Donation!
Fill out and sign the TRANSFER AGREEMENT.

The DONATION FEE may be paid by Venmo (@WaggytailRescue) or Paypal (waggytailrescue@gmail.com, add $15 processing fee). Please put the name of the dog in the memo section! Electronic payment is preferred!
You may also pay by check (payable to Waggytail Rescue), however processing of adoptions may be delayed by up to 2 weeks.
If your new buddy is not yet neutered, a $100 refundable deposit must be paid at adoption.

Dog Donation Fees
(includes microchip registration, age appropriate vaccines, and neuter)

$550 for puppies under 1 year
$450 for dogs 1 to 8 years
$325 for seniors over 9 years of age

Please add an additional $15 when paying by PayPal to cover processing fees.
Add $100 neuter deposit for unfixed animals.

More about this rescue

Waggytail Rescue is a NYC based animal rescue charity dedicated to the rehabilitation and rehoming of small breed dogs.

We focus on finding permanent placement for animals in urgent circumstances, saving dogs from imminent euthanasia at over-crowded local shelters, West Coast and South East kill shelters.

Founded in 2004, Waggytail Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has rescued over 5000 abandoned dogs and even a few cats and kittens! Through the tireless work of our many volunteers and amazing fosters, we are committed to continuing to find forever homes for New York's littlest strays.
