My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm Fred! I'm a big, solid guy with lap cat vibes and a strong desire to start over with special someone. I'm sure you've heard that cat's have nine lives? Well I'm ready to put the past behind me and step into my new role as your favorite feline friend! I will say that I prefer the company of adults and I'm not interested in any kind of manual labor, like catching mice. I'm simply looking to eat a good meal and take long naps in your lap. Would you like to join me? Come meet me at the Woods in Atascadero and we can enjoy the lazy life together.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1955, Woods Humane Society is a nonprofit organization which receives no tax funds, but is supported by donations, grants, bequests, fundraising events and fees for services. Woods is independent of San Luis Obispo County Animal Services, but works in close cooperation with them and other animal groups in the county for the welfare of all animals.

Woods now cares for over 3,000 cats and dogs each year at our facilities in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero until they can be united with loving forever families. We bring in animals from other shelters where they are less likely to be adopted and from individuals who are no longer able to care for their pets. Woods is committed to finding loving homes for all healthy and treatable pets, no matter how long it takes. With our behavior and veterinary resources, we are able to go the extra mile for animals in need.
