My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Walnut — the ultimate snuggle sidekick! If you’re looking for a cat who will actually hang out with you, Walnut is your guy. This super-social, ultra-friendly cuddle bug settled into his foster home like he’d always been part of the family. He’s got a little tongue that sticks out just a bit, and honestly…it’s ridiculously cute!

Between that and his constant purrs, he’s impossible not to fall in love with. Walnut is happiest right next to his people—curled up on a lap during a Netflix binge, stretched out in a patch of sunshine by the window, or following his people around to see what’s happening next. He especially enjoyed playing with the two toddler boys in his foster home, and soaking up affection from everyone he meets. He hasn’t met other animals yet, but since he’s neutered, his FIV+ status will not be an issue in a home with other compatible cats after a slow introduction (see below for more information on FIV).

Walnut is also experiencing some allergies we’re working to get under control; he’s on a special vet-prescribed diet and meds that are helping, though it may take a little trial and error journey for him to feel fully comfortable. Whoever adopts him will need to be prepared to continue his special diet and allergy medication alongside the direction of their full-service veterinarian. Walnut is also recovering from full-mouth extractions of his teeth due to suspected stomatitis. The only 'cure' to this condition is removal of all teeth, but his gums may need a little time to calm back down from the condition. What Walnut needs most, though, is a family who will love him as fiercely as he loves them—and trust us, this boy has a lot of love to give!

If you want a devoted companion who brings sunshine, snuggles, and endless charm (tiny tongue included), Walnut is ready to brighten your home!
------------------------------------

This cat has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which is specific to the felines and is not transmissible to dogs, humans, or any other animals. Cats with FIV can live normal, happy, healthy lives, but the virus can weaken a cat's immune system. FIV is spread from cat to cat via mating or deep puncture bite wounds. Thankfully, all our cats are spayed or neutered, so mating is no longer an option! Since FIV does not spread through casual contact like grooming, sneezing, and food/litter sharing, FIV+ cats can live with other cats that have tested negative as long as the cats get along without fighting. Our staff will be happy to tell you more about FIV, and you can learn more about FIV here: phillypaws.org/fiv

This cat's adoption fee is waived!
