My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jacey is a 7-month-old female Red Heeler/Shepherd mix with a stunning burnt red coat, accented by classic heeler white and adorable speckles on her snout, chest, and paws. She and her littermates were found dumped in Texas, but thanks to our amazing rescue partners there, Jacey and one of her sisters made their way to safety—and now Jacey is ready to find her forever home.

Jacey is a very sensitive, timid soul. New environments and unfamiliar people can feel overwhelming for her, especially busy or chaotic situations. At times it seems like she never truly got the chance to learn how to be a carefree puppy, so she needs patience, understanding, and time to build confidence. She doesn’t enjoy being crowded by new dogs and prefers to make friends slowly and on her own terms. With gradual, respectful introductions, we’re confident she’ll do well with another canine companion—and she may even benefit from having a calm, confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes.

She’s also cautious around new people, so a quiet, gentle approach is best. But once Jacey knows you’re safe? She completely melts. This girl is an absolute lovebug—she adores nuzzling into your neck, curling up on your lap, and showering her person with kisses. Once she bonds, she’s a total velcro dog who just wants to be close.

Jacey does well with other dogs, cats, and kids, as long as her boundaries are respected. She’s potty-trained, crate-trained, and already has polite basic manners. With the right patient, loving home, Jacey will blossom into the most loyal, affectionate companion you could ever ask for.

If you’re looking to offer a gentle heart a safe place to land—and be rewarded with endless cuddles in return—Jacey just might be your perfect match.

More about this shelter

We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!

Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
