Meet Marzen — a gentle soul with a heart as soft as her floppy ears.
This sweet Black Lab mix made the long journey all the way from Austin, Texas in hopes of finding someone who understands her tender nature. Marzen is shy at first and asks for a little patience and calm energy. She lowers her body and tucks her tail when she’s unsure, but if you sit quietly and let her come to you, she’ll melt right into you, burying her head into your chest for the sweetest, most heartfelt cuddles. Because she can get overwhelmed by quick movements, Marzen needs a home with someone who will go at her pace and celebrate the small steps as she continues to bloom. She shows love in her own special ways, and once she trusts you, her affection is deep and genuine. Marzen also adores other dogs — having canine friends helps her feel more confident — and watching her ears flop as she runs around with her buddies is guaranteed to make your day. The first step to adopting a cat or dog from Animal Friends Alliance is to fill out an adoption questionnaire. You can do this online!
The next step is to pick out a cat or dog! Check out our adoptable cats and adoptable dogs for pictures and short descriptions or come into the shelter at our Taft Hill campus. We also have adoptable cats at many offsite locations.
Note: not all available cats and dogs reside at our campuses. Some are at off-site adoption partners or in foster homes. If you are interested in a particular cat or dog, please call our shelter at (970) 484-8516 to find out about their current status and location.
We do not ship animals. You are required to come and meet your new addition prior to adoption so that we can ensure a good match.
Please note that we will make a copy of the adopters’ State ID card, Driver’s License or passport at the time of adoption.

Animal Friends Alliance is a non-profit, adoption guarantee cat and dog shelter and low-cost spay/neuter clinic.
Our spay/neuter clinic performs surgeries on both cats & dogs, and we also offer low-cost vaccination clinics every week.
Our organization's goal is to do everything in our power to prevent euthanasia due to 'homelessness'.
