Garfield is a 4-year-old adult cat with classic orange-tabby charm and a calm, confident presence. He’s friendly and enjoys human company on his terms — the kind of cat who will happily keep you company, soak up attention, and then politely let you know when he’s had enough.
Garfield loves pets and affection, but he’s not a fan of belly rubs (a boundary he makes clear with dignity). Because of this, he’s best suited for a quiet, adult-only home where his cues will be respected and he can relax without the unpredictability of little hands.
He’s an easygoing guy who appreciates comfort, routine, and a cozy place to lounge. If you’re looking for a cat with personality, independence, and plenty of charm — without the chaos — Garfield could be the perfect companion.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you/

Meet the Pet

For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet.

3.
Submit Application

After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application.

4.
Approve Application

After the application is submitted, we will review it and contact you if your application is chosen.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once your application is approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption process!

All that is needed for the adoption application is a

We are located at 1600 Johnson Road in Petersburg, Virginia.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 10am till 3pm.
We are closed Saturdays and Sundays (as well as holidays) but are available by appointment outside of our open hours.
