Dog's Name: Mikey (aka Baby Mike) (MIK1225OWSMD)
Estimated Breed: Boxer / Lab / Shepherd mix
Approximate Age: 1 year
Approximate Weight: 55 LBS
Currently Living at: Foster
Adoption Fee: $400
DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Say Hi to Mikey — your future adventure buddy and all-around good boy!
Mikey is a young, medium-sized gentleman who is searching for a new forever home. Unfortunately, his previous family loves him very much but can no longer care for him due to serious illness. Now this sweet guy is ready to bring his big heart (and wet nose) to a new lucky family.
Mikey is a lovable fella and is a pro at stealing kisses when you least expect it. He is medium energy and happiest when he’s outside soaking up life: daily walks, runs, swimming, exploring — if it involves fresh air, Mikey is in. He’d thrive in an active home with an adopter who wants a dog that is always up for the next outing. While Mikey hasn’t lived with kids, he’s a total magnet for them on walks. Kids are drawn to him, and he enjoys the attention. Yes, he sometimes tries to kiss them, so supervision is key (he just can’t help himself). Mikey is house trained, he lived happily with a cat (playtime and nap time included), and he is friendly, affectionate, and fun. So, what's not to love?
If you’re looking for a dog who will be your workout partner, your cuddle buddy, and your daily reminder that life is better with love, Mikey just might be your guy. Apply today and come meet him — you may leave with the best friend you never knew you needed!
Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
