RESCUE STORY - My rescuers think I was once a family dog, because I'm very affectionate and used to interacting with humans. However, I was found abandoned and had lived as a stray for quite some time. Thanks to sterlization campaigns carried out in the area, some of the volunteers noticed me and got in touch with a local rescuer who took me in. At the time of rescue, I was very dirty, malnourished, and full of fleas, but thankfully I didn't have any serious health issues. I got great care when I was rescued and am now safe and sound at the shelter awaiting my chance to come to my forever home.

TEMPERAMENT - I am a pretty chill gal who enjoys playing at times but is also happy resting quietly on my own. I am sweet and affectionate and eager for a family to give me all the love I deserve. I'm a big fan of cuddles and love to be held like a baby, hehe (video, video 2). I'm brave when I meet new people on my walks and gladly accept pets from them (video). I sleep comfortably in my crate at night, so I think I'd like a cozy den space in my future home. I currently live in a room with 20 other dogs, of all different sizes. I get along well with all of them and haven't shown any signs of resource guarding - I'm a greate roommate! Volunteers regularly take me out for walks and I enjoy spending time at the local dog park.

One thing to note is I really don't like when other dogs sniff my close to my face or bum, especially if we've never met before. I don't respond aggressively, as you can see in my video, but I'm just uncomfy and startled with it. I'm hoping to find an adopter who will advocate for my space and help all my doggy interactions to be controlled, positive ones :) Neutral, parallel walks with new dog friends is going to be key to my success.

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium/Low. I like to just chill and hang out!

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – I met a child on my walk and did well! video

    • as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!)

  • Dogs – Yup! I live with lots of other dogs at the shelter, and we peacefully coexist (video). I play sometimes but am not an overly rambunctious girl. More of a neutral playmate who just likes to exist around other doggos.

  • Cats – Unknown

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – My rescuers say I walk well on a leash (video) and I don't appear afraid of traffic or other loud noises (video). I regularly go on walks with volunteers and enjoy my time outside of the shelter.

  • House trained – Work in progress! Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD ($650 + 7% PST and 5% GST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
