Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Love a little ginger kitty? Then you should meet (and perhaps foster?!) Ferdinand! He was found stray and is currently being independently fostered by someone who can only hang onto him until the beginning of January. We've scheduled an intake exam to make him a part of the PAWS program for Dec 30th, but he'd need to head back home with his current caretaker if we cannot find someone to pick him up on the afternoon of the 30th (from our Grays Ferry clinic) for foster!
Ferdinand went from being a very shy, standoffish stray to a mild-mannered, lovey-dovey house cat and we don't want to see all that progress relapse into shyness and stress should Ferdinand have to stay onsite at our clinic. We believe it would cause him to shut down and we want to avoid that if at all possible.
Ferdinand is described by his caretaker as "mild-tempered and cautious. He makes a breathy little meow when he wants pets, and he very enthusiastically receives pets when he is comfortable with the person. He purrs gently, makes biscuits, and drools when he's happy." He may be a little hidey or mildly hissy at first, but once he's warmed up and had little time to adjust Ferdie becomes braver and more social! Ferdinand has been around other cats before (sounds like he is fairly passive) and has tested negative for both FIV and FeLV, but we're not confident he'd be a fan of dogs or kids under ~10-- the quieter and less chaotic his foster home can be, the better!
If you can take Ferdinand home for foster on the afternoon of the 30th, a Tuesday, please email foster@phillypaws.org
