Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ace is a 2-year-old pit bull who came to us when his owner became homeless. He’s a very sweet, playful dog who truly loves other dogs and would be happy to have a canine friend. Ace is both crate trained and house trained, which makes him an easy addition to a home.
When meeting new people, Ace can be a little shy at first and may hang back, but he warms up quickly and soon wants to cuddle and play. We don’t have any history with cats, but he has previously lived with younger children and did well. Ace is a loving, gentle boy who’s ready for a fresh start with a family of his own.
Ready to Adopt?
You have two options:
#1- VISIT IN PERSON
Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.
(Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.

All adult dog adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations
- heartworm test
-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-microchip implanted & registered to adopter
-treatment of fleas & ticks
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
