My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.

Aariz is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Aariz is a friendly dog that was surrendered when his owner had to relocate. The medical teams has concluded that Aariz is geriatric and suspected to have arthritis and underlying medical issues that require further workup. Aariz would benefit from a rapid shelter exit and work up at a full service veterinary clinic. Aariz has allowed for all handling during exams.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.

I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I need a home without cats or small animals.

A volunteer writes: There's that saying, "when they go grey they get their way" and that's exactly how I feel about Aariz. This 12 year old boy deserves everything he wants or needs in his retirement years. I first get a glimpse of him resting in his kennel like the perfect gentleman that he is...paws crossed, eagerly peering out for his turn for a walk. I'm surprised by how spritely he is too! Bouncing along, his nails sounding like reindeer hooves as he click clicks at my side. He eats all of our treat and then flops around on the ground for some belly rubs when he's exhausted the treat dispenser.

Aariz was adopted 6 years ago and recently returned due to housing changes. He arrived quite emaciated. His guardian reports that he is friendly and outgoing with dogs, avoids cats and is crate trained for up to 7 hours. He is social, playful and affectionate. The medical team has concluded that Aariz is geriatric and suspected to have arthritis and underlying medical issues. He is available to a novice home that can provide follow up vet care.
