Vienna is a 4 to 5 year old Chihuahua mix who came to us from county along with a group of dogs in urgent need of skin treatment. While her physical healing has come a long way, Vienna’s emotional recovery has taken time, patience, and a lot of love.
After completing professional training with our partners at Connected Canines, Vienna worked hard to build confidence, learn basic cues, and feel safer in the world around her. She is a shy and sensitive girl who can shut down when she feels overwhelmed, so we are intentional about moving at her pace and setting her up for success as she prepares for the next chapter of her life.
Vienna is quiet, gentle, and incredibly tender once she trusts you. She is a fearful avoidant pup, which means she may retreat or try to flee when overstimulated, making safety and secure handling very important. She will thrive in a calm, structured home with a family committed to patience, compassion, and consistency, and who understands that progress often comes in small, meaningful steps.
Despite her sensitive nature, Vienna truly shines around other dogs and takes great comfort in their presence. She loves canine companionship and is happiest when she gets to explore the world alongside them. Vienna also has a wonderful adventurous side and enjoys getting outside, going on hikes, and soaking up nature. She is a true outdoors girl at heart.
If you believe in second chances and the power of love to heal, Vienna may be your perfect match. Submit an application at skysanctuaryrescue.org/applications to take the first step. Once received, we will happily answer your questions and arrange a meet and greet with the lovely Vienna.

More about this rescue
We are a small group of passionate animal advocates that specialize in the humane capture and rescue of stray, fearful and injured animals from the streets of Maricopa County. We also assist pet owners as well as other rescue groups to recover their lost animals. We provide our dogs with a safe place to decompress, learn to trust and receive medical treatment until they are ready to find a forever home. The dogs that we take in are typically more difficult to place due to being fearful and high flight risks. Our animals require special adopters who are patient, diligent and very precautionary in order to keep our "trap dogs" safe. These animals are our passion and we will always do what is best for every animal that crosses our path.
