Meet Leland — a 66 lb., 1 year old German Shepherd with equal parts go go go energy and melt into-your-arms affection. She’s the kind of dog who can hike for miles, chase a ball until sunset, and then immediately decide that the couch — and your lap — is her true happy place. Leland is an affectionate, energetic young shepherd who loves adventure just as much as she loves curling up on the couch with her person. She bonds deeply, craves attention, and has fantastic recall with tons of training potential. She’s playful and social with select dogs (her best friends are a husky and a shepherd), but she can be jealous with her person and food aggressive with other dogs, so she’ll do best with confident handling and not small or fast-moving dogs. Her prey drive is strong. Leland may have some separation anxiety and can be vocal or destructive when frustrated, so she’s not suited for apartment living. She’s working hard on her basics and wants so much to please. If you’re looking for a smart, loving, active companion with huge potential, Leland might be your girl.

Adoptions by Appointment
We've got awesome dogs, cats and other critters waiting for new families to come and adopt! The adoption process begins online, and all adoptions are done by appointment only. In most cases, animals are eligible to go home right away, so be prepared for your new animal to leave with you.
- Potential adopters complete an online adoption questionnaire at https://www.everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-Pet .
- If approved, adopters can then interact with the animal they wish to adopt. It is best for all members of the household to meet the animal prior to going home. Note: Shelter staff reserve the right to deny any adoption if we feel it is not in the best interest of the animal.
- Renters bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption.
- Adopters must be 18 years or older, and have valid drivers license or photo identification.
- Pet licenses are required for dogs and cats in the City of Everett and unincorporated Snohomish County.
- The adoption fee must be paid at the time of adoption. We accept Visa, Mastercard or cash. We are unable to accept checks for payment of fees or services.
