This helps Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue, Inc. with pet care costs.
Gavin was found wandering the streets of Houston TX, worn down by a life he never asked for. He was rescued by one of MAD's most experienced fosters - it took multiple visits, but she refused to give up on him when the world already had.
Gavin came to us with scabs and wounds from surviving on the streets, including an injured leg cause by BB gun shots. Despite everything he has been through, Gavin's spirit is 100% full of love. He is incredibly affectionate, gentle and adoring of his people. He just wants to be loved and to give love right back.
Now that he has been receiving kindness, attention and medical care, Gavin has become even more trusting and at home. He is heartworm positive, but after treatment he will be ready for adoption and a life of giving as much as he is given by his lucky new family.
Gavin is fantastic in the house, zero destruction even when left alone for house. He is a big boy at 78 lbs but he walks fantastic on a leash, is housebroken and doing great with crating. He can jump over a 4' kennel wall but doesn't try to jump the fence. Belly rubs are his favorite, and he loves rolling around on his back just for fun. He clearly never had an opportunity to play with balls or toys, but we anticipate he will be a big fan with more exposure given his playful nature.
He is good with both dogs and cats! He has been great with a special needs older child and a very young baby. We anticipate he will be great with kids of all ages as he is truly an aware, smart and sensitive Malinois. If you are looking for a young Malinois with plenty of enegy but a low/medium energy pup on the "Mal" scale, and a perfect family dog or companion, reach out to learn more about this dear boy!
