Waffles here is a true blue golden good boy! You know how some dogs just radiate “good boy energy”? The kind that caught your eye and makes people look over and go, “Oh that’s a gooder.” That’s Waffles. Take a look-

At about 1.5 years old and 52 lbs, this blond shepherd mix (with a little hint of quiet husky mystery mixed in maybe) is the perfect blend of bouncy happiness, sweet kisses, and a an absolute yes if adventure is the question. Of course, given he is a rescue we cannot guarantee birthdate or breed, we will leave that to the mail away DNA tests out there.
From the moment I met Waffles I knew I was in trouble! I did not have plans of letting a boy run off with my heart and then he showed up. He hit me with those sparkly eyes and a hint of a smile and I had to remind myself that we have to spread the wealth of good dogs- not love and squeeze and keep them all to ourselves. So selflessly, Waffles is available for adoption. If you adopt him, be prepared for at least a few of your friends to call “dibs” on him if he ever needs a place to crash- he’s that gorgeous and he wins everyone over with gentle manners, kind eyes, and, reminder- the softest kisses you’ve ever felt. Really- so gentle and adoring!
Waffles is incredibly well-socialized - the kind of dog that’s known and loved at doggie daycare, who trots into the play yard with that “hey guys!” tail wag of a hello. He is playful, dog-friendly, and thoughtful in the way he interacts with dogs- reading the vibes, matching the energy, and choosing his friends accordingly. He loves a round of chase with a group of his friends as much as he does rolling in the grass by himself. With calm dogs, he keeps things polite and mellow. With energetic dogs, he is ready to party. Outside of his yardtime at doggie daycare, his favorite things include
Water (splashing, swimming, playing - all of it)
Gently carrying a toy around
Car rides… because those typically lead to adventures
Walks and hikes using his great leash manners
He is an athletic dog with energy that will need to be satisfied - movement is his love language. But once he’s had a chance to run and play, he is so content to sprawl out for a big nap on the floor. This is when you will get to pretend you have a polar bear rug because when he spawls out he sure does look like a glorious fur rug. He is easy that way, happy to go and happy to rest.
Waffles will be happiest with a goofy, playful friend who loves to run, bounce, and play, along with a yard to do all that playing in. He needs an adopter who is just as eager about moving their body and enjoying the outdoors.
To help Waffles thrive in his forever home here are a few details that will matter- He needs a cat-free home. He sees cats as eager participants in a game of chase - which means cats all give him a thumbs down. In other words, he is a little too exciting for kitties. He will need a yard or active adopter- preferably both. He is happiest when his energy gets to flow. As well as your confidence and structure. He is a young boy, and like many shepherdy dogs, he benefits from leadership.
Waffles is pure joy, he loves deeply, plays happily, rests easily, and greets life like it’s all a beautiful adventure. His blend of fun and affection is perfectly packaged, best-friend material, ready to love you with his whole heart!
