Meet the Pet
Take the Pet Home
- Full of puppy energy, and once he's had a chance to get some of that out, he's attentive and curious
- Loves toys and will trade them out nicely
- A little shy at times, but warms up fairly quickly and once he feels safe he will happily come up for pets; may follow you around to see what you're doing - he just wants to be part of things
- Sits pretty well when you ask and takes treats nicely; would love to learn more things!
- Was fully housetrained and crate-trained in his previous home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine
- Loves going on walks and does best with a harness
- Lived with another dog but can be shy and unsure of new dogs; may enjoy a confident dog friend in his new home (dog intro recommended)
- Has lived with kids, but is still learning how big he is and to watch out for those around him, so we think he would do best in a home where all family members are big enough and mature enough to be OK with his size and energy
- We don't know his history with cats
This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
