My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rowen

Rowen is a gentle, affectionate soul who came to us through no fault of his own. Despite a sad past, he greets everyone with soft eyes, a wagging tail, and an earnest desire to be close. His happiest moments are spent leaning in for pets, nudging for bum scratches, and quietly soaking up attention. He’s a true cuddle-seeker who bonds quickly and sweetly.

Rowen walks well with guidance, though he can pull with his size and may hesitate at doorways or swinging gates. With calm encouragement, he moves forward easily. He doesn’t seem to know many cues yet, but he listens kindly and responds to gentle redirection. He’s not very food- or toy-motivated—his real reward is you.

Rowen has been soft and social with new people, including strangers. He’s shown interest in other dogs and enjoys friendly, respectful canine company. During his dog meet, he stayed loose and polite, even showing big, joyful play bows once he warmed up. He could likely live with a well-matched dog. Because of his size, respectful older children are recommended. While he did live with cats in a previous home, he doesn`t always enjoy sharing his resources with them so if there are cats in the home, they should be dog savvy, slow intros done and the humans should be willing to use some environmental management around resources.

Rowen would do well in an apartment with the right mental and physical enrichment but would probably enjoy a yard he can explore or lounge in. He needs someone who understands he may need a bit of guidance learning how to be a pet again. In return, he’ll offer steady companionship, gentle affection, and a warm heart that’s ready to finally rest in a home of his own.
