My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Timon is a shy and sensitive German Shepherd/Lab puppy who is just beginning to learn that the world can be a safe and comforting place. He is a quiet observer, taking in his surroundings as he learns at his own pace. Timon is still discovering how to be a puppy. He is learning that toys can be fun, that gentle voices bring reassurance, and that patience helps build trust. With time and encouragement, his sweet personality starts to emerge through cautious curiosity, soft tail wags, and growing confidence. He will do best in a calm, patient home that understands shy puppies need consistency, kindness, and space to blossom. With love and positive guidance, Timon will grow into a loyal and devoted companion who forms deep bonds with his people. If you are looking for a special dog whose trust is earned and whose companionship is deeply meaningful, Timon is ready to find his forever home. Adoption fees are $250 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Please contact us if you have questions about our adoptable dogs, we would love to talk to you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application; we check all references; and upon adoption, we require the adopter to sign an adoption contract which says, among other things, that if the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must come back to Little Big Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue

Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart.
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue that is committed to improve and save the lives of dogs through:

Rescue, Rehabilitation, Training, Adoption and Community Education

In January 2025, the rescue underwent a transition, redefining its mission to a different focus and locality. Little Big Dog Rescue relocated to the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia and expanded from predominately a senior dog rescue to helping dogs of all ages in need as our resources allow.

LBDR aims to pull from local kill shelters and assist owner surrenders as space allows in our foster homes. Each dog will be vetted to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, etc. and then spend quality time in a foster home so we may learn more about each dog's personality and needs for their future "furever" home success. We are committed to providing medical rehabilitation as well as some behavioral training whenever possible to further improve the quality of life each dog may have after being adopted. Additionally, LBDR hopes to give back to the community by offering education on various aspects of the privilege of dog ownership, including proper medical care, training needs, breed-specific needs, and so much more.
