My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Anya Anya is a collie mix puppy with a spirit that mirrors the northern lightssoft, luminous, and quietly breathtaking. She moves through the world with gentle curiosity, her calm presence glowing brighter as she gains confidence. Theres a peaceful steadiness about her, balanced by playful flashes of puppy joy that feel like color dancing across a twilight sky. Intelligent and observant, Anya shows the thoughtful nature collies are known for. She watches, learns, and connects deeply with her people, responding best to kindness and encouragement. Whether shes exploring new surroundings or settling in close for reassurance, Anya brings a sense of calm warmth, like aurora light stretching across a dark horizon. Anya would thrive in a home ready to nurture a bright, sensitive puppy with patience and love. With guidance and trust, she will grow into a loyal companion whose presence feels grounding, comforting, and quietly magical. If youre searching for a puppy whose light is gentle but lasting, Anya may be the glow youve been waiting for. Adoption fees are $250 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Please contact us if you have questions about our adoptable dogs, we would love to talk to you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application; we check all references; and upon adoption, we require the adopter to sign an adoption contract which says, among other things, that if the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must come back to Little Big Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue

Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart.
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue that is committed to improve and save the lives of dogs through:

Rescue, Rehabilitation, Training, Adoption and Community Education

In January 2025, the rescue underwent a transition, redefining its mission to a different focus and locality. Little Big Dog Rescue relocated to the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia and expanded from predominately a senior dog rescue to helping dogs of all ages in need as our resources allow.

LBDR aims to pull from local kill shelters and assist owner surrenders as space allows in our foster homes. Each dog will be vetted to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, etc. and then spend quality time in a foster home so we may learn more about each dog's personality and needs for their future "furever" home success. We are committed to providing medical rehabilitation as well as some behavioral training whenever possible to further improve the quality of life each dog may have after being adopted. Additionally, LBDR hopes to give back to the community by offering education on various aspects of the privilege of dog ownership, including proper medical care, training needs, breed-specific needs, and so much more.
