Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Atlas is a collie mix puppy with a bold, radiant spiritlike the northern lights at their brightest, stretching confidently across the sky. From the moment he enters a room, his joyful energy and self-assured nature shine through. He loves to play, explore, and engage with the world head-on, bringing enthusiasm and laughter wherever he goes. Confident and outgoing, Atlas approaches new experiences with curiosity rather than hesitation. He enjoys interactive play, learning new things, and being right in the middle of the action. True to his collie heritage, hes intelligent and alert, pairing his playful nature with a sharp mind thats ready for training and adventure. Atlas would thrive in a home that can match his energy and encourage his confidence with structure, enrichment, and affection. Whether hes racing through the yard, mastering new skills, or settling down after a full day of fun, Atlas brings warmth and excitement like aurora light blazing across a winter sky. If youre looking for a puppy who is joyful, confident, and full of life, Atlas may be the brilliant light ready to brighten your world. Adoption fees are $250 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Please contact us if you have questions about our adoptable dogs, we would love to talk to you!

We require an adoption application; we check all references; and upon adoption, we require the adopter to sign an adoption contract which says, among other things, that if the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must come back to Little Big Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue
Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart.
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue that is committed to improve and save the lives of dogs through:
Rescue, Rehabilitation, Training, Adoption and Community Education
In January 2025, the rescue underwent a transition, redefining its mission to a different focus and locality. Little Big Dog Rescue relocated to the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia and expanded from predominately a senior dog rescue to helping dogs of all ages in need as our resources allow.
LBDR aims to pull from local kill shelters and assist owner surrenders as space allows in our foster homes. Each dog will be vetted to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, etc. and then spend quality time in a foster home so we may learn more about each dog's personality and needs for their future "furever" home success. We are committed to providing medical rehabilitation as well as some behavioral training whenever possible to further improve the quality of life each dog may have after being adopted. Additionally, LBDR hopes to give back to the community by offering education on various aspects of the privilege of dog ownership, including proper medical care, training needs, breed-specific needs, and so much more.
