My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Joey arrived:
Joey was brought in by a community member on December 16, 2025.

Why Joey is the one for you:
How you doin'? Meet Joey, a lovable puppy with a big personality and even bigger heart. Joey came to us with his mom, Phoebe (ID 977006), and his siblings Ross (ID 977008) and Chandler (ID 977007), and has been growing up surrounded by family from day one. Just like his Friends namesake, Joey is charming, confident, and absolutely convinced the world revolves around him-and honestly, it kind of does. Joey will do best in a home that's fully puppy-proofed, because curiosity is kind of his thing. If it's on the floor, it might be a toy... at least in Joey's mind. Setting clear boundaries will help him thrive and keep your shoes safe. He still needs to learn potty training with a consistent routine and patient guidance. With structure and encouragement, Joey is ready to figure it out-especially if there's a reward involved. After all, Joey doesn't share food, but he will work for it. Joey responds best to positive reinforcement training. Praise, treats, and upbeat energy help him learn and build confidence. Training that's fun and rewarding brings out his best qualities, and we hope it helps him grow into a well-mannered companion. If you're looking for a puppy who will make you laugh, steal your heart, and greet you like his favorite Friend every day, Joey is ready to say, "How you doin'... future family?" When coming to meet or adopt Joey, please remember to bring a leash and collar.

At SDHS:
Joey has been vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Joey is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
