Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.
General Notes | Eliza is a beautiful one-year-old black Lab mix with the softest soul. She is truly one of the sweetest, gentlest, and calmest dogs you’ll ever meet. Eliza has shown incredible patience and kindness around children, including being wonderfully gentle with a six-year-old, and she is very submissive and respectful with other dogs of all ages and energy levels. She gets along beautifully with senior dogs and younger pups alike, making her an easy, peaceful addition to a home. Eliza has been in the shelter since November and quickly became a staff favorite thanks to her loving nature and quiet, affectionate presence. While she has handled everything with grace, the shelter environment is beginning to take a toll on her. Eliza is ready for a foster or forever home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and be cherished the way she deserves.
Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.
Personality | Sweet and loving
Story | Eliza came from a shelter in Texas where she was brought in as an owner surrender with another dog. She was quickly noted as a "staff favorite" -- the staff wanted Eliza to have a better chance of finding her forever home so they reached out to Mile High for help. Their staff drove her over two hours to her new MHLRM foster!
Other Dogs | Eliza really enjoys the company of other dogs and she has been around a variety of ages and sizes. She was a superstar on her dog temperament test. She is a little unsure about how to play but she loves being invited to join the fun!
Cats | Eliza has not been officially tested around cats. Given her gentle personality, we have high hopes she could co-exist with proper introductions
Children | Eliza got to go home with a shelter volunteer and hang with some school-aged kiddos. She did great.
Training | Eliza is potty and crate trained. She is still learning basic commands and would love if someone took the time and effort to help her be her best self.
Leash | No official leash training but does pretty well!
Activity Level | Moderate energy level
Health Notes | Eliza is UTD on all her vaccines and is HW NEGATIVE!
Thank you! |
Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $750 per dog).
Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file.
Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
