Sebastian is a 1 year old bi-eyed, parti-eyed grey and white Siberian Husky who came into the HâEâAâRâT program because Shelters are so overwhelmed that Huskies are being adopted out to anyone with a pulse, just to free up space. Those rushed decisions are putting our breed in danger — and Sebastian is one of the dogs who paid the price.
Sebastian was adopted and then returned to the shelter for “attacking” the cat. The truth? He was simply placed in the wrong situation — one that nearly cost him his life. This is what happens when an overwhelmed system prioritizes empty kennels over safe, appropriate placements. That's where we stepped in and brought him into our program with a foster who understands Husky.
Sebastian is a wellârounded, affectionate, deeply loving young Husky. He’s mostly housebroken, has moderate energy , and is great on a leash . He’s allowed on furniture and absolutely thrives when he feels included in daily life.
He stays loose in his foster home when left alone — he can be crated, but it takes him about 45 minutes to settle, so a home that doesn’t rely heavily on crating is ideal. He eats politely in the kitchen, enjoys breakfast and dinner with his foster, and gets a frozen pumpkinâoat or blueberryâyogurt treat to lick afterward. No resource guarding, no fear issues — just a sweet, curious, noiseâattuned boy who wants to understand his world.
Sebastian does best with large dogs . A home without small animals is best — especially since he has a typical Husky prey drive (birds and squirrels beware). Sebastian is a zoomies connoisseur. He loves racing up and down stairs, looping around the house, and celebrating life with joyful bursts of energy. He’ll need daily exercise and a yard or space where he can safely stretch his legs.
Sebastian’s mustâhaves are simple but nonânegotiable:
-
A family who reinforces that he is loved
-
Humans who pay attention — especially around open doors
-
A home that understands Husky curiosity, intelligence, and sensitivity
-
Space for zoomies and play
-
People who enjoy fetch, tug, cuddles, and routine
He learns household rhythms quickly and loves being part of them. At bedtime, he’ll cuddle until he’s full of love, then curl up beside the bed. In the morning, he jumps up to be the first thing you see — a gentle, joyful wakeâup call. Sebastian is, in his foster’s words, “the most lovable and kindâhearted furbaby ever.”
Sebastian is being fostered in Maryland. He is neutered, current on vaccines, and healthy. His adoption area is CT, NY, NJ, DE, MD, PA, VA, NC.
~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply
