My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pixie (A140601) is an 11-year-old dachshund mix who weighed over 30 lbs at intake!

12/13/25 This sweet little lady is Pixie! Pixie arrived at the shelter due to no fault of her own. Pixie had been taken in by her most recent owner following the death of her previous owner. Therefore, we actually do not know much about her, so her age and breed are mostly guesses! In her most recent home, Pixie was said to tolerate the larger and rowdier other dog at best. She appointed herself the Fun Police and did not appreciate his general chaos. She was said to do best with slow introductions and calmer dogs. We highly encourage researching Fear Free dog introductions to allow for the best possible outcome. We do not know how she feels about other animals, such as cats or small critters. Pixie was said to do well with the 7-year-old in her most recent home, and she is said to generally do well with most other humans. She has been known to have some accidents in the house, particularly during the winter months (Who can blame her when the snow is over her head)! Courtesy of the shelter fund Pixie was sent out for senior bloodwork and a dental cleaning! She will need to go back to MMAH in 6-8 weeks to recheck her liver values. This recheck will be covered by the shelter fund. She will also need to have her food soaked until the beginning of the year while her gums heal from her dental. But overall she looks pretty great for a senior gal! If you are interested in meeting Miss Pixie, please give the shelter a call!December 22, 2025, 2:58 pm
