My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Butterfly! Beautiful inside and out, Butterfly is a gentle soul who radiates joy and hope wherever she goes. Even after arriving at the shelter as a lost stray, she never lost her sparkle. She greets her favorite volunteer with a happy heart and trots to the play yard with the perfect mix of spunk and grace. On walks, Butterfly loves exploring the golf course and then settling in for cozy snuggles right after—your personal little cuddlebug. She’s also delighted to meet friendly dogs through the fence and may be a great match for a “meet and greet” with your own pup.Full of wisdom yet bursting with youthful zest, Butterfly is ready to start her next chapter with someone who loves life as much as she does. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and a bright spirit, Butterfly can’t wait to fly home with you.

More about this shelter

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department’s mission is to protect and serve the pets and people of Albuquerque by providing Caregiving, Awareness, Resources, Enforcement and Service excellence.

AWD is always in need of foster homes for our pets who need time to grow, recovery from illness or injury or in need of a break from the shelter. Foster homes increase our capacity to provide services to homeless pets in our community. If you would like to donate toys, towels and milk-bones are always in need. Volunteer opportunities are also available at our shelters.
