My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Squatch! A handsome, loyal boy who's looking for an active, dog-free home where he can burn off all of his energy! He forms strong bonds with his people and thrives on one-on-one attention, making him a wonderful companion for someone who wants a devoted best friend.

Squatch does not enjoy the company of other dogs and would be happiest as the only canine in the home. He's affectionate, people-focused, treat motivated & loves spending time with his humans - whether that's hanging out at home or going for walks together. He even knows some tricks! He's shown to be a very smart boy.

On leash, Squatch is still a work in progress and will need an adopter who's patient and committed to helping him build better leash manners through training and consistency. With the right guidance and a loving routine, we have faith that Squatch will be the most amazing addition.

If you think that Squatch sounds like he could be the guy for you, please submit an application online!

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
