My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Leo AKA Maverick!

Leo (Maverick) is a super sweet, loving boy who brings together good manners, affection, and just the right amount of adventure. He enjoys walks and absolutely loves car and even boat rides, making him a fun companion for outings. One of his favorite places is his kennel, he runs right to it when asked (especially if a treat is involved!) and is quiet and content when kenneled. He also does very well when left alone.

Leo has excellent house manners. He waits patiently for his food, waits at doors when told, and loves rolling onto his back for belly rubs. He’s comfortable with gentle handling and even allows tooth brushing and light grooming. He starts out with a bit of energy but settles quickly, making him a great fit for a calmer, lower-energy home.

He is affectionate and cuddly with his people and enjoys toys of all kinds. Leo is generally good meeting new people, though he appreciates slow, respectful introductions, he can become uneasy if someone moves too quickly or pushes past his comfort level. He can be reactive to sudden or surprising things, but when he feels safe and understands what’s going on around him, he is well behaved and responsive. He takes corrections well and looks to his people for guidance.

Because of some fear-based reactivity, Leo would do best in a home without children. He has been good with other dogs of all sizes and has no known issues with cats.

Leo is an entertaining, loyal companion who truly enjoys his humans and thrives with clear expectations and calm leadership. With the right home and continued guidance, he’ll be the very best version of himself.

Leo already knows:

-Potty trained
-Kennel trained
-Sit
-Down
-Stay
-Wait
-Place
-Watch me
-Drop
-Leave it
-With me

Leo is ready for a patient, understanding home where he can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the wonderful dog he is.

Adopting from HEA

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS:
Adoption is a huge deal to us. We make a lifetime guarantee to our companions. In return, we’re asking you to provide a lifetime commitment once you’ve invited a pet to join your family. We’re excited that you're considering adoption. We look forward to working with you to find the right match!

TIMELINE:
Our primary objective is to assure the correct match for the people and the pets that we’re sending to their forever homes. Our goal is to send dogs and cats home as quickly as we can, while still being thorough. Processing times will vary and are largely dependent on our ability to connect with your references, landlord, and veterinarian. To keep the process moving along, please make sure you’ve done your part:
1) Fill out your application completely - missing information slows down the process.
2) Let your references know to expect our call.
3) If you rent, let your landlord know to expect our call.
4) If you currently have pets, ask your veterinarian to be prepared to release your records.

LIFETIME GUARANTEE:
We make a pact with every animal that enters our care: They’re promised a loving home for the rest of their life. In turn, when you make the commitment to adopt, we ask you to make a lifetime commitment. We believe family is forever.
