Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
This helps Animal Care Centers of NYC | Manhattan with pet care costs.
What my friends at ACC say about me:
I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.
I am a sweet, social, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home!
I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
Upon approach Jasmine is laying curled up in her litter box, body and eyes neutral. When the kennel door is opened, she lifts her head up to look at the assessor. She is able to be slowly coaxed to the front of the kennel with soft talking but retreats when she hears loud noises occur in the hallway. Jasmine sniffs at the assessor's hand before gently head bunting it once, tolerating all petting before retreating back into the cubby. A squeeze up is offered to her and she slowly walks out of the cubby to come eat it. Jasmine retreats into the cubby again but continues to tolerate petting and attention while in the cubby. She remains in the cubby for the rest of the interaction, so full pickup is not able to be attempted, but she is able to be lifted a few inches from inside of the cubby, slightly tense while she is held but showing no further signs of escalation. When placed back down she tolerates more petting on the head, cheeks, and shoulders without issue.
Jasmine interacts with the observer, solicits and appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. We recommend that Jasmine go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in new home adjustment period.
