My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

East TN. Out of state welcome
Meet Pete!
This little guy is super sweet once he gets to know you. He takes a little bit to warm up to new people. He eight years young. He’s active and spunky and also loving and sweet. He is good with most other dogs. No small children for this guy. He needs his space to be respected and most young children don’t understand this. He did phenomenal when we cat tested him. He could be a mini pin chi mix or mini pin pug mix because his tail is a curly Q He is 18lbs for size reference
He is house trained and crate trained.
He does ok with other dogs however he doesn’t like to share affection. He growls at the other dogs if they try to come get attention while he is getting it. He takes a simple correction for this very well. He is learning he has to share attention while he is here. He doesn’t need to the the only dog but he would probably not complain if he was and was getting all the attention. He does play with our smaller dogs and is so cute with them. He’s generally great with other female dogs of all sizes and smaller dogs male or female but he just can’t seem to deal with his little dog syndrome when it comes to larger male dogs.

He literally will take about two days to trust you and once he does he melts and loves you. He just needs a little time to adjust and trust his new people. Once he trusts you though that’s it he will give you his whole heart and protect you with all of his being. He is such a lover and he deserves to be given a chance at a happy loving life. He’s been though so much.

Check out this super cute video of him on our facebook page https://fb.watch/EaYhPTU9YW/?

More about this rescue

WHY & HOW
Let us start off by telling you the “WHY” and how we set out on this mission. We rescued our first fur-kid from the side of the road several years ago and she turned out to be the best companion we could ever hope for. She was homeless, abandoned, dumped on the side of the road and left to fend for herself in order to survive. As heartbreaking as it is, the realization hit us that this sadly is not uncommon. We later decided to find her a playmate and searched the databases for her new friend and that is when we were hit hard with the fact that there were literally thousands of dogs that needed to be saved! We believe in our hearts that no pet should ever have to face being forgotten, unwanted and unloved. We dream that one day we won’t be needed and that all humans will see these beautiful souls for what they are….. love in the purest form. It is our job to make this happen.
PET PATH’S MISSION
Our mission is to save the lives of the healthy and friendly dogs that are homeless, abused, abandoned or on death row at a kill shelter. We save them through a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care to find good matches for both the dogs and the potential adopters. We educate the adopters on the responsibility and potential costs of their new family member prior to adoption commitment. This is necessary to ensure these dogs are placed in loving fur-ever homes and are never left in the same position we rescue them from.
WE’RE A NOT FOR PROFIT PROGRAM
We are an all-volunteer, home based, foster based, certified 501(c)(3) dog rescue/placement organization based in South East Tennessee. We operate with the use of our own personal home as fosters to each of our rescued pets, by utilizing approved foster homes, networking with several local rescues, shelters and transports, by using social media and web related databases and of course at our adoption event/expos.. Part of our mission is to establish strong trusting relationships with other rescue groups so that we can network together to save more lives.
PET PATH IN THE COMMUNITY
We also serve our community by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on the need for spaying and neutering. We keep the community informed of local spay and neuter options. Every single one of our dogs are spayed or neutered before being adopted.
RE-HOMING SERVICES
We will offer a re-homing service to the public to encourage them to foster and keep their own pets until we find them a new home. This will keep them out of the shelters and increase their chance for a healthy happy life.
THE UNDER DOG
The majority of our dogs come from numerous animal control shelters in the southeast region of Tennessee. We strive to save the forgotten ones, the ones that no one comes for, the ones that become urgent because their time has run out. We are committed to providing the dogs that come into Pet Path with the best possible care while they wait for their fur-ever homes. We do this by acclimating them to life outside of a shelter and providing them with appropriate veterinary care. We do not euthanize healthy friendly pets for space, we work against that completely. Because we do not kill, we unfortunately cannot accept all dogs if we do not have the resources or fosters necessary to provide adequate care for them.
We strive to work with everyone that wants to become part of the solution that is necessary to end the killing, abuse and neglect our dogs and many other pets endure.
